Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the VeganScan mobile application and related services ("VeganScan," "the app," "we," "us," or "our"). VeganScan is operated by an individual sole operator based in Israel. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

VeganScan is currently in closed beta. The service is provided on an as-is, evolving basis and may change, break, or be discontinued during this period.

1. Acceptable use

You agree to use VeganScan lawfully and reasonably. You must not:

• Send spam or use the app to distribute unsolicited or malicious content.
• Abuse, circumvent, or attempt to circumvent the free-tier rate limit (10 scans per day), including by automating requests or creating multiple accounts to evade limits.
• Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from the app or its backend.
• Reverse engineer, interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems.
• Upload content you have no right to upload, or content that is unlawful.

2. AI accuracy disclaimer

VeganScan uses AI to assist with ingredient analysis. AI may be wrong. Do not rely solely on this app for medical, dietary, allergy, or other important decisions. Always read the actual product label, and consult a qualified professional for any medical or health concern, including allergies and intolerances. VeganScan's verdicts and summaries are informational aids only and are not a substitute for professional advice or the manufacturer's own labeling.

3. AI provider acceptable-use pass-through

AI analysis in VeganScan is performed using Anthropic's Claude API. By using VeganScan, you agree not to use the app in any way that would violate Anthropic's Usage Policies (Acceptable Use Policy). This includes, without limitation, not using the service to generate or facilitate content that is illegal, that abuses or endangers children, that promotes violence or harm, that violates others' privacy or intellectual property, or that is otherwise prohibited under Anthropic's published policies, as updated from time to time. We may suspend or terminate access to enforce these requirements.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, VeganScan and its operator are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss arising from your reliance on the app's output, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the service (which, during the free beta, is zero).

5. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to VeganScan at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, abuse the service, commit fraud, attempt to evade rate limits, or otherwise misuse the app. You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time via Profile → Delete account.

6. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The competent courts of [CITY, e.g., Tel Aviv], Israel shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the app, except where mandatory consumer-protection law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.

7. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via in-app notice and email. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
